Visiting Artist Jorge Lucero
Artist's Talk April 16, 5:30-7pm Art Building room 219

Jorge Lucero is an artist who currently serves on the faculty of the School of Art + Design’s Art Education program at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign as Associate Professor and Chair of the Art Education Program. Lucero received his Masters and PhD degrees from Pennsylvania State University and his undergraduate degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. Prior to moving into higher education Lucero happily taught art and art history in a Chicago public school.
Lucero has exhibited, published, and performed widely. His exhibitions have been written about and covered in ArtForum; Sculpture; NewCity; and the PBS Digital Studio. Lucero edited the anthology Mere and Easy: Collage as a Critical Practice in Pedagogy (U of I Press) and currently acts as artist-in-residence at the Breitner Academy of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (2018).

As part of his long-term work to test the material and conceptual pliability of "school", Lucero serves as the co-editor of the scholarly journalVisual Arts Research. Previously, Lucero served as the Instructional Resources Editor for the journal Art Education.

THEJORGELUCEROSTUDYCOLLECTION is a modest art library and ephemera archive assembled by artist and educator Jorge Lucero during his various teaching appointments across the midwest. Currently the entire STUDYCOLLECTION is on loan to CVAD and has been installed in room 251 since January 2018.
