Call for Entry:
Validity
Catapult Creative House Gallery
Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO
Validity is a call
for visual artworks in which female artists are welcome to express their
personal stories of how feminism has shaped their lives. Every experience is
valid, and every story should be told. It is important to share and express
aspects of ones life through art. In today’s social-political climate, women
must stand together to voice their views and experiences of the world.
For some, “Feminism” is perceived as a derisive and
offensive term. Art critic Griselda Pollock states, “feminism signifies… a
dynamic and self-critical response and intervention, not a platform.” Feminism
has transformed through generations, allowing contemporary women/girls/females
or those who identify as such to add their own experiences, ideas, and
dialogue. It is important to recognize women who have believe that being a
feminist is a unique and vital role to the development of the world.
