CVAD Scholarships
CVAD is pleased to announce 2013–14 Scholarship and Student Award Opportunities. There will be three deadlines for funding in 2013: February 15, 2013; April 22, 2013; and October 14, 2013. Students should select the application that best matches their funding request and give faculty members at least two weeks notice for letters of recommendation.
CVAD Continuing Student 2013-2014 Scholarship
CVAD expects to award about $65,000-70,000 dollars in scholarships this April to its students. That's a lot of money. These scholarships (most of which are for $1,000) are for students in all programs and all levels. The deadline is Feb. 1 at 4:00 p.m. All they need to do is go to the link above and click on the hyperlink for CVAD Continuing Student 2013-2014 Scholarship. That will take them to a page that tells them what they need to gather and how to format that material. The application is a web form and should be easy. At this point, we have only 31 applicants; last year we had 65. I hope we have 80 or more this year.
CVAD Student Award Opportunities
Also, we are pleased to announce the creation of an award/grant fund that has been created through the generosity of Paul Voertman, Tom and Judy Donahue, and other donors, that will provide funds for projects (including materials), study abroad, conferences, presentations, research opportunities, and internships (among other possibilities) that enrich the education and opportunities of CVAD students. Awards of up to $2,500 will be granted based on the educational or professional impact of the opportunity to the student, the department, the college, and/or the university. These grants will require a minimum of $100 in matching funds.
There will be three rounds (deadlines) for funding in 2013: February 15, 2013; April 22, 2013; and October 14, 2013. Please ask your students to select the application that best matches their funding request.
Once StudentGrant Application has been completed, it should be sent to Jerry Aul at jerry . aul @ unt . edu (no spaces). Please remind the students that they will need a letter of recommendation from someone who is knowledgeable about them and/or their proposal. The application will not be complete until this letter has been received by Jerry Aul. Give faculty members at least two weeks notice for letters of recommendation.
We are constantly amazed how hard it is to award money. Please remind your students that they don't stand a chance if they don't submit an application.
PS: If a student is an out-of-state or international student, remember that a $1000 scholarship entitles them to pay in state tuition! That makes the award worth a great deal more.
