Review of Winners! Press' "Zinery" by Cat Snapp

A Review of Winners! Press' Zinery by Cat Snapp
Zinery is a show on display at Washington University in St. Louis’ Weitman Gallery. The show is a zine installation intended for viewing during this year’s Southern Graphics Council International conference. There were several dozen zines on display ranging from hand-bound one-of-a-kind books to stapled photocopied books in traditional zine form. The playful nature of some works followed by the detailed intricacy of others created a pace for the viewer that kept the quiet space active. The bare walls clearly communicated that the show was about zines and books as an art form. Two custom-built racks for the show forced the audience to move beyond the role of the viewer and interact with the work, as some people walking through the show seemed to do with comfort as they picked up zine after zine from the wire lines.
