Call for MFA Applications – University of North Texas (UNT) Printmaking

The College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas
offers a three-year M.F.A. program with an emphasis in Printmaking.

February 1, 2011: MFA Application Deadlines for enrolling August 2011

6 to 8 MFA Printmaking Candidates
30 BFA Printmaking Majors
25 to 30 MFA candidates in the Studio Division (various majors)
Over 2300 students in the College of Visual Arts and Design.

The Printmaking Studios:
600 square foot MFA Print Studio (shared) equipped for intaglio & relief processes.

  2,900 square foot intaglio/relief/screenprint studio

1,200 square foot lithography studio,

  1,000 square foot critique room

Printmaking Equipment:
*32" x 56" Takach Litho Press.
*30" x 50" Charles Brand Litho Press.
*30" x 44" Graphic Litho Press.
*38" x 72" Takach Etching Press.
*36" x 60" Charles Brand Etching Press.
*30" x 50" Charles Brand Etching Press.
*Two 26" x 50" Charles Brand Etching Presses (One in the MFA Studio).
*16" x 30" Charles Brand Etching Press.
*18" x 36" Takach Etching Press.
*A separate well-ventilated acid room with enclosed hood.
*A selection of more than 100 litho stones (up to 30" x 24" in size).
*Two dark rooms with Nuarc exposure units for screen/intaglio and litho.
* 36” Prexto Plate Sheer.

Financial Aide, Assistantships, & Fellowships: 
Scholarships through the Studio Division for new Graduate Students.
In-State Tuition Rate to all Out-of-State new MFA Graduate Students.
Graduate student Travel Grants available on a competitive basis.

Graduate Area Assistantships (GA) available to new Graduate Students:
Printmaking Area Assistantship with stipend
Core Drawing Area Assistantship with stipend
Core Design Area Assistantship with stipend
Gallery Area Assistantship with stipend

Teaching Assistantships (TA) available after the first semester:
Several Core Drawing I Teaching Assistantships with stipend
Several Core Drawing II Teaching Assistantships with stipend
Several Core Design I Teaching Assistantships with stipend

Teaching Fellowships (TF) available to 2rd year MFA candidates:
Printmaking Teaching Fellowships with stipend
