the UNT Study Abroad program hosted by the Santa Reparata International School of
Art (SRISA) in Florence, Italy this summer.
They took courses in Figure Drawing and Sketching/Journaling led by professors
Andrew DeCaen and Cynthia Mohr.
Professor DeCaen, Leigh, and Ana also visited a few printmaking studios
in Italy including the VenicePrintamaking Studios on the island of Murano and Il Bisonte in Florence.
Simone Guaita of Il Bisonte lead a tour of the print studios and a presentation of
the history and ethos of this amazing print studio founded in 1959 by Maria Luigia Guaita. Il
Bisonte published a long list of well known artist such as Jacques Lipchitz,
Alexander
Calder, Paul Wunderlich, Henry Moore, and Pablo
Picasso. The studio has shifted its
focus away from publishing and onto the education of a new generation of
printmakers. Thank you Simone
Guaita for your sharing your enthusiasm for the printmaking media!
