Thanks to the generosity of Nicholas and Anna Ricco, a $1,000 award
will be given annually to the leading CVAD student proponent of ethical
behavior and concepts. A student may only receive this recognition 1
time.
Any student or professor may nominate a current, full-time CVAD student for his or her demonstrated deep understanding of ethical behavior as required by the student's discipline both in school and in the realities of daily activities. Students may have demonstrated this understanding of ethics in the context of a course; a project, paper, or works of art; through extracurricular activities; or through personal interactions with his or her professor.
The nomination packet must include:
A nominated student must be pursuing a major or pre-major in the College of Visual Arts and Design as a full-time student (12 hours or more per semester).
A selection committee will be comprised of an elected member of each of the departments in CVAD and chaired by the Associate Dean for Academic and Administrative Affairs. The committee members will review all letters of nomination, the letters of recommendation and the essay/work of art. Students may be called upon to meet with the Selection Committee as is deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the selection committee.

- A letter of nomination
- An up-to-date resume or vita for the student
- A maximum of 2 letters of recommendation from other faculty members, a chair or a member of the professional community who have reason to comment on the student
- An essay and/or jpegs of a work or works of art from the nominated student demonstrating his or her perceptions of ethical behavior as it relates to his or her discipline in school and in daily activities. If a student submits a work of art, he or she should also submit an artist's statement.
