The University of North Texas is honored to highlight the
artwork of six talented young printmakers: Jonny Riecke, Jezzalie
Gill, Payton Lower, Noelle Hays, Kathleen Clark, and Hannah Taylor. These students’ work will be displayed in the Cora
Stafford Gallery March 25-29th,2013. On the eve of March 28th, a great jubilee
will sound from the corner of Ponder and Oak as young and old alike bond in
print viewership.
The diverse body of work covers a range of subjects and
styles. The work appeals to a variety tastes and complement each other due to
shared mediums yet different approaches. The works are created using a range of
printmaking techniques, lithography, relief, etching, screenprint, and
monotype. The artworks explore satire, monster anatomy, spiritual identity, and
nonobjective abstraction.
“First This, Then That” is a portfolio exchange including
works from both the aforementioned senior BFA students and MFA candidates: Luke
Ball, Preston Bradley, Nuray Packard, Adam Rowlett, and Jon Vogt. It
exemplifies the work of each artist in relation to the title’s notion of
process in creating art itself.
