Professor Andrew DeCaen was a visiting artist at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke September 17-19. The printmaking students at UNCP worked with Andrew to cut, fold, and glue sheets of printed paper into a series of white lunch trays that they installed on a glass wall at the entry of the art building. One of the lunch trays was left half-assembled and set in the atrium space of the building to complete the installation. UNCP students also assisted Andrew in printing a few colors on a new large lithograph that used the unfolded tray design as a the starting point for the layered imagery in the print below...

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has a thriving
BFA program in printmaking with dedicated students led by Professor
Brandon Sanderson. Andrew had the opportunity to have individual critiques with the advanced printmaking students.
