Recurrence Relation features three 500X alumni whose works are characterized by the captivating repetition of forms. Vincent Falsetta's small color studies record the thoughtful experimentation involved in his process of painting; Paul Booker evokes natural phenomena such as fluid dynamics and animal swarms through the vocabulary of pure abstraction; and Brian Spolans populates fictional worlds with small creatures undertaking both the monumental and mundane tasks of civilization.
Born in Dallas and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Brian Spolans is an assistant professor of printmaking at Eastern Michigan University. He received a BFA from the University of Texas and an MFA from the University of North Texas.
