UNT Print Alumnus Gretchen Schermerhorn

UNT Printmaking alumnus Gretchen Schermerhorn (BFA, 2000), current artistic director of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, was recently interviewed by Molly Springfield for The Studio Visit:

I really enjoy [having a studio at Pyramid Atlantic] because there’s usually always other artists working here and that symbiosis is great. Being able to go back and forth and see what [other artists] are doing is great.

Gretchen studied at UNT with Judy Youngblood, Richard Allen, and Stanley Baden from 1996–2000. Recognizing her understanding and appreciation of printmaking, they encouraged her to attend graduate school. She received an MFA from Arizona State University in 2004 and has since taught a variety of workshops and courses at Corcoran College of Art and Design (Washington, DC), State University of New York (New Paltz) and Seacourt Print Workshop (Bangor, North Ireland). She has worked at Pyramid Atlantic since 2006.

Pyramid Atlantic is a non-profit contemporary arts center dedicated to the creation and appreciation of hand papermaking, printmaking, digital arts, and the art of the book.

Learn more about Gretchen's work on her website and blog.
